A self-help guru whose advice helped millions has passed on to his “next adventure.” That’s the way Dr. Wayne Dyer looked at death, merely as a transition to something new.

His long time publisher, Hay House, announced the news on Facebook, saying in part, “Wayne has left his body, passing away through the night…  Our hearts are broken, but we smile to think of how much our scurvy elephant will enjoy the other side.”

When a corporate pilot heard about the women’s plight, he called his boss and asked to borrow the company plane.
The heroes, Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos, and Anthony Sadler, along with two other men, took down a heavily armed gunman on a high-speed train in France on August 21.
Pilot Doug Perrill called Tim Boyle, CEO of Columbia Sportswear, to see if they could give the mothers a lift.

Local Masons Rebuild Ancient Tombs Destroyed By Militants

• Local masons in Timbuktu, Mali have rebuilt eight ancient mausoleums, turning the tombs into monuments to tolerance and peace three years after an invading army destroyed them.
• When militants first took over the city in 2012, they declared the Sofi Muslim mausoleums a form of idolatry and destroyed them. After only three months, the invaders were forced out of the city, and the United Nations set out to rebuild the historic tombs.
• The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hired local masons to rebuild a total of 14 of the mud and brick mausoleums. Eight have already been completed.

1. A new discovery could eventually slam the brakes on cancer and shift it into reverse.
2. Mayo Clinic researchers in Jacksonville, Florida believe they’ve discovered a way to turn cancer cells back into healthy tissue.
3. The research is only lab-based for now, but the researchers are hopeful they’ve discovered a new mechanism for fighting — or even curing — cancer.
4. As cells get older, they’re supposed to quit dividing, but that doesn’t happen with cancer cells; they continue multiplying to form tumors. The researchers discovered a breakdown in communication within the body that allows cancer cells to continue dividing–and they’ve found a way to reprogram those cells.

Coast Guardsman Swims a Mile in Dark and Rough Seas to Save Fishermen

High winds and water cold enough to kill were no match for a Coast Guardsman who swam out into high seas to answer a distress call.

During the wee hours of Tuesday morning, a Coast Guard helicopter was called to save the crew of a floundering 52-foot commercial shrimp fishing boat.

The vessel had lost power and was taking on water, and the four-person crew had abandoned ship; they were bobbing aboard a life raft in 5-foot waves off the Oregon coast when the helicopter arrived.

The copter lowered Petty Officer 2nd Class Darren Harrity into the 57-degree water. Normally, he would have attached a harness to each of the castaways to lift them back to the helicopter, but the hoist broke – the chopper couldn’t pick up any of the survivors.
